Food & Hunger

Your tummy (food stat), what refills it, and what happens when you let it run out.

How hunger works

Food drains at a flat 0.25 per second — by the game's own comment, roughly one full meal's worth over a complete day-and-night cycle. There is no separate "hunger" stat for the player — it's the same 0–100 food number throughout.

Food levelEffect
Below 25%A one-time warning toast: "Your tummy hurts. Find something to eat." (re-arms once you climb back over 40%)
Below 20%Movement speed ×0.82
Below 15%Fear rises an extra +1.5/second, on top of the normal rate
0%You lose 1.6 health per second until you eat or go down

Health regenerates slowly during the day (+0.9/second, only while not downed and food isn't at zero), which is one more reason to fix your food before dusk rather than during the night.

Apple+22 food
Sandwich+55 food (the best food in the building)
Milk Carton+28 food, +35 stamina
Juice Box+10 food, +100 stamina (fully restores stamina)

Eating (R with food selected) also knocks 6 points off your fear meter, on top of restoring food — a small but real reason to eat proactively rather than only when desperate.

Where food comes from

Only your own hunger. Toddlers no longer get hungry or need feeding — a hurt toddler needs a plaster at the nurse's office, not a snack. See The Toddlers.

Food-related jobs

"Lunch time" (eat 1–2 things) and "Lunch from Meredith" (get a tray) are drawn from Mrs. Honeywell's job pool — see Mrs. Honeywell's Jobs for the full templates.

Fear interaction. Because low food both slows you down and speeds up your fear gain, letting your tummy run dry compounds every other night-time problem at once — see Fear and crying.
